Ensures appropriate management and integrity of the Districts financial information in day-to-day accounting operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Balances and remits monthly and quarterly reports for retirement, social security, federal and state income taxes. Oversight of payroll department including employee paychecks, payroll liabilities, payroll deductions, garnishments and related. Prepares and processes W-2s and submits to the Internal Revenue Service. Prepares and processes Affordable Care Act/Form 1095s and submits to the Internal Revenue Service. Oversight of insurance reconciliations. Corresponds with SC Public Employee Benefit Authority (PEBA) on various employment/retirement related matters. Collaborates with Payroll Manager to address employee payroll concerns. Assists state, federal, and independent auditors with financial audits of School District records. Serves as backup to Supervisor of Accounting Systems. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Business Services. JOB SPECIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate Degree in Accounting or Finance or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Supervisory experience is required. Payroll experience is required. Must have working knowledge of accounting software, computer processes, and business software applications including spreadsheets, word processing, and databases. Requires a working knowledge of computers, as well as accounting methods and procedures. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
